Diaconate (Our Deacons)

The caring ministry of the River Road deacons is carried out by twelve ordained women and men who fulfill many of the congregational care needs of the church.

Through them our homebound members are visited regularly, Easter Lilies and Christmas Poinsettias are delivered to those who recently experienced hospitalization or loss, and care cards are sent to those in hospitals. In addition the deacons are responsible for corresponding with and visiting members, overseeing memorial receptions, organizing meals and transportation when needed, arranging for the delivery of altar flowers, and coordinating the weekly Joys and Concerns.

The Deacons feel strongly that the congregation has come together in so many caring and sharing ways with guidance from Bob Ratchford, Senior Pastor, and Susan Butterworth, Intern Assistant Minister. It is their prayerful intent to continue in this direction following God's commandment to love one another.

Through the Care/Share program, in the coming weeks your assigned deacon will speak with you either by phone or in person. Feel free to ask questions, offer comments, and share any joys or concerns. Please use these dedicated Christians as a conduit to obtain services and information from the church. They can be a wonderful, additional resource for you when needed.

For congregational care needs please contact your assigned Care/Share Deacon or Lee Branch through the church office at 804-740-7083.
