Missions

Philanthropy directed locally and throughout our region and the world is a vital concern and priority of the Presbyterian Church and our own congregation. The members of the Mission and Service Ministry have taken this imperative seriously and have striven to fulfill the mission and philosophy of our Christian faith by providing aid and comfort to those less fortunate than ourselves and in need of food, clothing, and shelter.

When Christ spoke about judgment and works, he said, "Come you who blessed My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me." (Matthew 25:34-36)

The importance of giving to the needy cannot be overstated for all of us. When Christ equates himself with those in need, "….assuredly I say unto you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to me." (Matthew 25:40), how can we deny the outstretched hand of the impoverished?
